Oat flakes: gently produced at 60 °C

You enjoy an extraordinary speciality. Oat flakes are normally treated with hot steam during production. Heat can also be generated during rolling. With oat flakes from Keimling Naturkost oat flakes, the production process is complex. Firstly, the oats are dried in their hulls at a maximum temperature of 60 °C. The germination capacity is retained. It is then germinated and gently crushed. The oat flakes obtained in this way are highly valued by nutrition-conscious people and are considered to be particularly valuable.

Tip: Raw rolled oats are ideal for a high-carb diet.

Background knowledge: Oats, a grain with a history

Oats belong to the sweet grass family. Cereals such as wheat or barley form their grains in an ear - oats are different. Avena, as it is known in Latin, harbours its grains in a multiple-branched panicle. Oats are one of the most ancient grass seeds. The Celts and Germanic tribes were already cultivating the grain.

Did you know that...

...our oat flakes have a particularly nutty flavour?

...oats were only replaced as a staple food by potatoes and wheat at the beginning of the 19th century?

...more than 20 species belong to the oat genus?

Keine empfehlung
