The chia plant, which can grow up to one metre tall, is native to the south of America. The chia plant was already an important staple food for the Aztec and Mayan tribes in the form of chia seeds. Chia seeds were considered to be a special source of energy, which is why the Mayans often provided runners with this food when travelling.

Chia seeds combine several valuable ingredients in high concentrations: not only omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, but also the high fibre content, numerous vitamins and minerals, as well as fats, antioxidants and trace elements make chia seeds a particularly valuable ingredient in healthy cuisine. Vegans and raw foodists are particularly enthusiastic about this natural product. But gluten allergy sufferers are also discovering chia seeds for their recipes. They aid digestion and are a good satiating agent because they supply the body with energy over a longer period of time.

Our chia seeds, on the other hand, come from small, sustainably farmed fields that are harvested by hand by the rural population. What do chia seeds taste like and what dishes can I use them in?
Chia seeds have a fairly neutral flavour and are therefore very versatile. They are an enrichment for both sweet and savoury dishes. Make a fruity chia pudding, add chia seeds to your smoothie or grind the chia into flour and use it in cracker dough. The possibilities are colourful and numerous!
Do chia seeds help you lose weight?
Chia seeds have the property that they can soak up liquid. If they are soaked, they can absorb up to 12 times their own weight in liquid. This produces a gel-like consistency - the chia gel or chia pudding. This pudding can provide a lasting feeling of satiety.
What nutrients do chia seeds contain?
Chia seeds are little nutrient bombs. In addition to plenty of niacin, they also contain lots of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Their list of ingredients also includes plenty of fibre and an ideal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids.
How much chia can I eat per day?
You can safely consume up to 15 grams of chia seeds per day. You should always allow the seeds to swell before eating them. If you have little time, at least a few minutes. When eating unsweetened chia seeds, please drink plenty of liquid.
Why is the consumption quantity limited? Are there any other health disadvantages to consider?
In January 2013, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) authorised chia seeds as a novel food ingredient with extended uses. However, the daily dose described therein is limited: Baked goods, breakfast cereals and nut-fruit mixtures may contain a maximum of ten per cent chia seeds. The recommendation we give is also based on this legal basis. You will find this information as a consumption recommendation on our label: Do not consume more than 15 g of chia seeds per day. However, this information has nothing to do with the good health effects of chia seeds, but is due to the fact that novel food products are not yet so well known and therefore their effects have not yet been intensively researched. The legislator wants to protect the consumer with this information.

Die Chia-Samen sind in der Qualität sehr gut und schmecken immer wieder vorzüglich

Ich verwende die Chia-Samen für mein Frühstück. Dafür weiche
ich die Samen über Nacht in Cashewmilch ein und gebe dann
noch Obst dazu. Super Frühstück weil super Qualität!
