Grow your own fresh wheatgrass

Planting and harvesting your own wheatgrass is fun and the best way to ensure a balanced diet. Sprouts, herbs and grasses cannot be processed and prepared any fresher. Either sow directly in the garden or use our sprouting tools to help you: you can find them here in the shop under the category "Grow sprouts".

These organic sprouting seeds maintain their high organic quality thanks to the gentle cultivation methods that allow the plants to grow naturally. The organic sprouting seeds are grown organically. They are grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. After harvesting, they are not treated with preservatives, colourings or other artificial additives. Organic sprouted seeds are pure nature. From Italy.

The wheatgrass produced from these seeds has very nutritious properties. After 2-3 days, they can be eaten as fresh sprouts, e.g. as a topping on salads etc. On the other hand, it can be used to grow young cereal grass, which is ready for harvesting in about 14 days and can be pressed into a flavourful, dark green juice. But be careful: not every juicer is suitable for pressing cereal grass. Please contact us, we will be happy to advise you on this.

Sowing:

Soak the germination seed in water for approx. 8-10 hours, then rinse and sow evenly, e.g. in a germination device. Until germination is complete, after approx. 2-3 days, water the seed 2-3 times a day. For strong wheatgrass, transplant into soil and water daily until the wheatgrass has reached a height of approx. 20 cm.

Can I grow wheatgrass on my balcony?

If you grow wheatgrass on your balcony, you have a direct source of vitalising plants in your immediate vicinity. Growing it on the balcony has many advantages. Wheatgrass grows particularly quickly under the influence of natural sunlight. The movement, which is determined by the wind, also promotes growth and leads to vigorous plants and therefore better harvests. Out of season, we recommend growing organic wheatgrass sprouting seeds in the Freshlife sprouter or in real soil.

Do I have to pay attention to anything when storing organic wheatgrass sprouting seeds?

As the wheatgrass seeds come to you in practical and sturdy packaging, you should remove the seeds in portions and leave the rest in the container. The container provides optimum protection from sunlight, moisture and mechanical damage. However, if you fill the germination seeds into another container, make sure that it has been cleaned thoroughly. Place the container in a dry place away from light, for example in a cupboard.
