Sukkari dates: from the oasis straight to your mouth

Pure nature - Sukkari dates are grown in an oasis in the desert. Carefully picked by hand, they are harvested in special baskets. The fresh, healthy dates are cooled immediately. They are cleaned with a stream of air and cotton cloths and sorted in temperature-controlled rooms. At temperatures as low as -18 °C, Sukkari dates retain their creamy, wonderfully melt-in-the-mouth and fresh consistency during storage and transport. The entire process, from cultivation and transport to processing, is monitored by the manufacturer. This means that the raw food quality can be precisely checked.

Background knowledge

In Arabic, "sukkari" means sugar. Dates are very popular in Arab countries as a sugar substitute in tea or coffee. The fruit sugar crystals slowly dissolve when the hot drinks are drunk. This releases a fine, caramel flavour. Dates belong to the palm family. The name comes from the Greek word "dactylos". This means something like "finger". Date palms can live for up to 100 years.
