Interesting facts about plums

Plums belong to the rose family. The plum tree can grow up to 10 metres high. It blooms from April to May. Scientists suspect that its origin lies between the Caucasus and the Altai Mountains.

Anthocyanins are responsible for the colour of the plums. These secondary plant substances are found in many blue-violet coloured fruits and are antioxidants.
