Juicer recipes: squeeze healthy juices yourself
Daily portions of fruit and vegetables are simply part of a healthy diet. However, not only fresh fruit, but also fruit and vegetable juices are full of valuable nutrients. The advantage: the nutrients contained in fruit and vegetables are much more concentrated in the juice and can be better absorbed by the body. But beware: conventional juices from the supermarket often contain added sugar and are also pasteurised, i.e. heated above 78 degrees Celsius to increase their shelf life. We show you how you can easily create delicious, healthy and raw food juices yourself.
Promoting health with slow juicer recipes
Juices from the organic market or supermarket are usually pasteurised. Although this preserves the juices, they lose important vitamins and enzymes through the heating process.
With slow juicing, the juice is cold-pressed "slowly" at a speed of 30 to 200 revolutions per minute. The slow rotation of the slow juicer offers two decisive advantages: No additional oxygen is swirled into the juice and the build-up of heat in the appliance due to excessive rotation is completely avoided. This means that valuable nutrients and heat-sensitive secondary plant substances are retained. These strengthen the body's defences, have an antioxidant effect and can even have a positive impact on blood pressure.
Fruit and vegetables are usually high in fibre, which strengthens the intestinal flora and thus aids digestion. However, when juicing, the fibre remains in the fruit and vegetable residues, the so-called pomace. This makes slow juicer recipes not only incredibly healthy, but also easy to digest. Fresh, home-pressed juices are particularly suitable for people whose digestion is weakened due to illness or who want to regulate their energy levels with a juice diet.
Juice recipes for juicers: how it works
Juicing really is child's play. The procedure is similar in every juicer recipe: the ingredients simply need to be thoroughly rinsed and roughly chopped before they go into the juicer. Peel, core, roots, stems and leaves are no problem for most appliances and are even welcome additions to any juice recipe due to the additional vitamins, minerals and trace elements. You only need to take a closer look at the quality of the ingredients used: As fruit and vegetables are usually put into the juicer whole, you should always use untreated organic quality.
During the juicing process, the plant fibre and juice yield are collected in different containers. You can of course enjoy the juice yield straight away. The "waste" from juicing, the pomace, should never be thrown away. They are great for use in cakes, breads or your next dehydration recipe.
Tip: If you are trying a juice recipe in a juicer for the first time, the fresh juice may taste too intense. Most creations taste even better when slightly chilled with a few ice cubes.
Creating your own juicer recipes: the most popular ingredientsSimple
apple, orange or pear juice is too monotonous for you in the long run? Rightly so, because your juicer can do much more: try fruit and vegetable combinations such as apple, carrot and ginger or beetroot with blueberries. You can also try exotic combinations such as pineapple, mint leaves and cucumber or mango, pineapple and orange. Refine your juices with herbs, wheatgrass or barley grass powder for extra vitamins, enzymes and trace elements.
The possible combinations are almost endless. It is best to use regional and seasonal fruit and vegetables to do something good not only for yourself but also for the environment.
