Stay young - with the right diet it works! by Nicoletta Poddey (@eatcareheal)

To stay young and fit, a healthy diet, stress reduction and regular liver cleansing are crucial, supported by foods rich in antioxidants, amino acids and proper glucose from fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
Many people want to stay young and fit for longer. But how can this be achieved - especially when we realise that the ageing process of the human body begins as early as the age of 25? Scientists say that this is when cell function begins to decline. Anthony William, also known as Medical Medium®, however, explains that DNA has nothing to do with the ageing process. He says that if the DNA becomes weaker or damaged, this is a sign that the liver is losing its power to keep us young. This is because the liver has chemical functions with antioxidant compounds that prevent our cells from dying and this also protects our DNA. So it's all about the health of the liver if we want to slow down the ageing process. He writes: "There is nothing better against stress, no more effective anti-ageing agent... than a healthy liver."
Pathogens, toxic heavy metals, pollutants of all kinds and certain foods such as eggs, dairy products, gluten, corn, soya and rapeseed oil ensure that your liver has to work hard. If the liver is exposed to these troublemakers for too long, they accumulate in the liver. The liver's function of protecting you from troublemakers, especially your heart and pancreas, is severely impaired. This is the point at which symptoms such as sagging skin, weight gain, grey hair, wrinkles etc. become noticeable.
Incidentally, hormones in our reproductive organs and stress hormones cause women and men to age faster. The ageing process slows down in women from the menopause and in men from around the age of 50.

A diet high in protein, excessive fat consumption and too much processed food (junk food) also slag the liver and therefore have a major influence on the ageing process.
However, we are not at the mercy of the ageing process. A healthy diet, reducing stress and occasionally cleansing the liver can help us to age more slowly and stay young for longer.
To stay young and fit, antioxidants, amino acids and the right form of glucose are important for body cells and the liver. Fresh fruit and green leafy vegetables are best. This is because antioxidants and amino acids help the liver to detoxify and prevent liver and body cells from dying.

Oxidation is a chemical reaction between the body's tissues and harmful foreign substances. In addition to the toxic effect, this also produces free radicals, which damage the cells and cause them to age more quickly. Antioxidants counteract the oxidation process in the body and slow down the ageing of tissue.
You should therefore incorporate the following steps and foods into your daily routine to support your liver and stay young and fit for longer:
- Drink 500ml of water with the juice of half a lemon on an empty stomach in the morning. This is like a little shower for your liver and helps your body to release the substances that your liver has sorted out during the night.
- Drink 500ml of celery juice 20-30 minutes after the lemon water. This helps your liver to cleanse itself and supports your digestion. This allows waste products to be better removed.
- Reduce your consumption of highly processed foods.
- Reduce your fat consumption, especially processed fats. Opt for healthier fats such as seeds, nuts or avocado.
- Eat more fresh fruit and green leafy vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, cabbage, celery, garden and wild herbs.
- Avoid coffee and caffeinated drinks. Caffeine causes the adrenal glands to release adrenaline, which ages the liver and therefore our cells.
- Exercise more in the fresh air.
- Allow yourself regular time-outs to calm down. This lowers the adrenalin level.

You may also want to integrate a few superfoods into your diet to stay young:
- Green asparagus: Is a true anti-ageing wonder food. It contains lots of chlorophyll and lutein, which deeply cleanses the liver and organs. It is also a powerhouse of silicic acid, minerals and trace elements and can revitalise the adrenal glands. Asparagus are actually the young shoots of the plant and asparagus passes on this youthful, up-and-coming vigour to us. Asparagus keeps us young and also supports the defence against neurological disorders.
- Melon: Strengthens and regenerates the body with valuable glucose and coenzymes. Its high electrolyte content protects the brain from stress-induced strokes and embolisms, thins the blood and thus reduces the risk of a heart attack. It ensures good moisturisation and can counteract hyperacidity. It also contains easily utilisable silicic acid, which keeps bones, joints, tendons and teeth healthy.
- Nettle leaves: Have a revitalising and life-prolonging effect, as they protect tired organs from inflammation. They stabilise the adrenal glands and other endocrine glands and protect them from the effects of radiation. They also contain over 40 important trace elements and silicic acid in a particularly bioavailable form.
- Burdock root: Helps to deeply detoxify the liver and thus has a regenerating effect, giving the liver new strength and vitality. It also has a blood-purifying effect and helps to relieve pain.
- Berries: Their high antioxidant content makes them a true miracle against free radicals. They slow down the ageing process and protect our cells. Berries also contain valuable polyphenols, amino acids and coenzymes and protect our cells from the over-acidifying stress hormone adrenaline. Berries can even dissolve hardened deposits in the blood vessels and thus also ensure good heart health.
- Aloe vera: Purifies the blood, relieves inflammation and pain in arthritis, prevents kidney stones and lowers high cholesterol levels. Regular consumption of aloe vera can also promote cardiovascular health and protect the body from oxidative stress.
- Aloe berries: Help boost energy and vitality, improve muscle tone, strengthen eyesight and flush toxins from the body. They are an effective remedy for hot flushes. Amla also has wonderful anti-ageing properties as it can help rejuvenate organs, cells and tissues and promote good health and longevity.
- EPA/DHA: Is an omega-3 fatty acid and an important component of our cells. It ensures cell elasticity, which is not only important for the skin, but above all for the mucous membranes and vascular walls in the body. This fatty acid is also important for nerve and brain function. As the body cannot produce EPA/DHA itself and cannot absorb it in sufficient quantities from the diet, a dietary supplement made from algae is recommended.

Mulberries, bananas, papaya, mango, apples, peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, grapes and sweet potatoes, avocado, walnuts and hemp seeds also contribute to a healthy diet that can help slow down the ageing process.
