In the early 1980s, Winfried Holler harboured a vision that would shape his life and become a movement. When he took over the small organic shop "Kernbeißer" in Buxtehude in 1984, he realised that the new name had to be "Keimling Naturkost". He was fascinated by the vitality contained in a Keimling - this tiny, inconspicuous bud that blossoms into pure vitality within a few days.
For him, Keimlinge embodied the invincible power of nature, which even breaks through cracks in the asphalt, stronger than any civilisation. They were symbols of natural growth, of a nutrient-rich and unprocessed food source. It was precisely this philosophy of a natural, raw food diet that drove the founder from the very beginning.
Inspiration from the raw food movement
Winfried Holler was inspired by the emerging raw food movement of those years. Books such as "Fit for Life" and guides by pioneers such as Dr Schnitzer shaped his conviction: The key to health and longevity lies in a diet of unprocessed, unheated natural products.
In 1984, he set up a modest organic food shop "Keimling Naturkost" with just 30 square metres of space. However, he recognised the potential and set up a mail order business for raw food products at the same time. In 1989, he added the sale of hand-picked vegan foods - a milestone on the road to a holistic plant-based lifestyle.
From germ to flower
From these humble beginnings Keimling Naturkost has become a pioneer of the vegan raw food movement. The name always recalls the origins: the fascination with young, natural living and the consistent path towards a pure, nutrient-rich diet.
Today, the brand is known far beyond Germany for its quality and passion. This credo still characterises the entire Keimling Naturkost range today: whether juicers, dehydrators, high-performance blenders or the high-quality food itself - everything is aimed at the gentlest possible preparation and the preservation of valuable nutrients.
