Florian Sauer began to explore alternative healing methods as a young adult due to illness. Conventional medicine's answer to his ailment was an operation. As this was not acceptable to him, he searched intensively for an alternative method. The solution was a combination of raw food and fasting. After just two years, he was cured and continued his training in this area in order to make the knowledge he had gained available to other people. After becoming a raw food nutritionist, he trained as a fasting instructor.
Florian Sauer quickly realised that detoxification was essential before a successful change in diet. This was the birth of so-called nakurapy. Nakurapie stands for nature, cure andtherapy. The aim was to be able to detox two to three times a year, preferably as a lifestyle and without having to take holidays or time off work.
Based on Buchinger fasting, the concept was further developed in small groups on the basis of observations and blood tests and supplemented by the administration of fresh wild herb juices, enemas and minerals. The Nakurapie concept is constantly being developed and optimised. The cure can be carried out in Haselbach, but also as an online course with guided instructions and videos.
There are many reasons for taking a fasting cure. On the one hand, there are people who are considered incurable or untreatable by conventional medicine or who are in an advanced stage of illness. On the other hand, there are also people who are simply not satisfied with their state of health due to a lack of energy, depression, anxiety or premature signs of ageing and who prefer an alternative treatment with natural methods to going to the doctor. Then there is a group who simply want to do something for their health and have come to living food through books such as "Heal Yourself" or the bestsellers by Anthony William and want to delve deeper into the subject. This new health awareness is often a gradual process, people perhaps pay more attention to buying organic food, replacing ready-made products such as plant milk from a tetrapak with homemade nut milk from their own blender or squeezing fresh juices with a slow juicer instead of store-bought bottled juices.
Focus on liver fasting
As our central detoxification organ, the liver promises the greatest health benefits during a cure or cleanse. Building on the work of Andreas Moritz (Die Wundersame Leber- & Gallenblasenreinigung), Hulda Clark (Heilung ist möglich), and Tamara Lebedewa (Reinigung - Entschlacken und Entgiften Sie Ihren Körper ), Florian Sauer tried to find out which cleansing methods work most effectively and how they can be implemented even better. For example, Epsom salts were replaced by a natural product such as Cassia Fistula and bottled juices were replaced by freshly squeezed living juices. Another realisation was that a weakened and nutrient-poor body cannot fast optimally because the energy level is too low. It is therefore recommended to switch the body to living food before the fasting cure and to avoid stimulants such as coffee.
Our most important detoxification organs are the liver, kidneys, spleen and intestines, which need to be cleansed, strengthened and activated. True to the motto "The environment is everything", sustainable healing is possible by revitalising the body.
The causes of a disturbed or weakened digestive system are manifold: convenience food with dubious additives and flavour enhancers, eating too late, which can no longer be digested before a good night's sleep, but also exposure to industrial cosmetics.
An important role is also played by the bile, which has the task of dissolving fat-soluble toxins and excreting them via the intestines. However, if the gallbladder does not have enough bile available because the liver does not produce enough, the stomach acid cannot be neutralised either, which means that the intestine is attacked by its own digestive juices and this is the cause of numerous intestinal diseases, such as leaky gut syndrome.
How exactly does a liver cleansing programme work?
As a rule, the cure lasts 7 days, with 5 days making up the actual cure. On the first day, i.e. the day of arrival (if the cure is carried out at the academy), there is a multi-course raw food menu with micro-organisms.
The 2nd day The first day is a preparation day; only vitality food is eaten and drunk. You will be introduced to the equipment used during the fasting cure (e.g. slow juicer), the massage, shiatsu therapy, trampoline and saunas. In addition to the vitality diet, special tea blends are administered, such as liver tea, bladder-kidney tea and so-called stone-breaker tea. A light fasting soup is served in the evening. You should spend the night on an empty stomach.
On the 3rd day there are yoga and breathing exercises, and exercises to improve the circulation of the lymph. Freshly squeezed juices from vegetables, herbs and wild herbs are made and drunk in the kitchen using special juicers known as slow juicers. The participants realise how filling and satisfying such juices rich in vital substances are. To prepare the intestines for the cure, the natural remedy Cassia Fistula (Indian laburnum) is used instead of Epsom salt as a detoxifying agent. Cassia fistula has the great advantage over Epsom salts that it is not as irritating.
The so-called "liver flush" is not carried out with olive oil, as is usually practised, but with milk thistle oil, as milk thistle is known for its liver-strengthening effect.
Freshly squeezed lemon juice is then taken after breathing exercises.
Gauze bandages and hot water bottles support the circulation of the organs to be detoxified. The combination of oil and acid leads to a strong production of digestive juices. Now the actual cleansing can take place by excreting sediments from the gallbladder in the form of mucus, stones and semolina via the bile duct.
On the 4th day The intestinal excretions can then be observed on the second day, as the substances released by the liver and bile are then discharged via the intestines. Because peristalsis (intestinal movement) is very low due to the lack of chyme, Cassia Fistula is used to help. Although previously only liquid food was taken in, the excretions and quantities are astonishing: cholesterol-salted fats, bilirubin stones, biofilm, but also lymphatic mucus.
The fast is broken with apples, vegetables or tigernut milk.
On the day of departure there is the so-called Swiss power food (what exactly is that?) as well as drinks made from turmeric, ginger and apple. Teas, wild herb extracts and bitters are available to take home.
Juices as the central pillar of liver cleansing
Freshly squeezed juices are the most important pillar of the liver cure. The use of juices is inspired by Dr Max Gerson and Dr. Brian Clement (Hippocrates Health Institute). Juices are a very good way of getting enough nutrients due to the massive reduction in nutrient density in food over the last few decades. It would be extremely difficult to eat the quantities required for this. For example, the calcium content of broccoli has fallen by a catastrophic 73% between 1985 and today, while the vitamin B6 content of bananas has fallen by 95%.
For this reason, the Nakurapie Academy does not use bottled juices, but only freshly squeezed juices in raw food quality. Bottled juices have drastically fewer vitamins and antioxidants because they are preserved by heating and long storage periods. Minerals are still present, but not in a bioavailable form as in fresh juice. Therefore, only slow juicers are used for juicing. These are special slow-rotating juicers that do not heat the juice during the pressing process, only swirl very small amounts of oxygen into the juice and enable a very high juice and vital substance yield. Florian Sauer recommends the Omega 8226 juicer for beginners and the Angel Juicer for advanced and intensive users.
It is important to thoroughly savour the juice according to the motto "Chew your juice", as digestion is known to begin in the mouth. Juices are a wonderful way to maximise your intake of nutrients with minimal digestive effort.
Depending on the illness or deficiency, an individual recommendation is made for certain juice mixtures.
Apples play an important role, especially the "Granny Smith" variety, which has a slightly lower fructose content and is rich in antioxidants. The malic acid it contains is said to "open" the organs for the cure. Cucumber, courgette, fennel and celery, as well as wild herbs, pomegranate, beetroot leaves and kale, provide minerals in the juice. The chlorophyll contained in green plants in particular has a similar molecular structure to our blood, which is why green juices are so valuable.
Online seminar
The liver cleansing programme is not only available on site in Haselbach, but also online. Florian Sauer points out that if you take part online, it is advantageous if you have already had some experience of fasting beforehand, e.g. Buchinger fasting or intermittent fasting (e.g. 16/8), so that you are familiar with the feeling and effect of fasting. The online course uses videos to explain everything in detail, such as tea preparation, juicing, applying liver compresses and supportive measures, and there is also a hotline and a Telegram channel available.
Are there people who should not do a liver cleansing programme?
There are exclusion criteria for a liver cleanse, such as advanced liver cirrhosis (stage 2 and 3), acute hepatitis, and the treatment must also be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In the case of multiple sclerosis, a cure should only be taken under supervision and after consultation with a doctor, as initial exacerbations can occur before improvement occurs, which can cause relapses. High cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and intestinal diseases such as leaky gut syndrome, on the other hand, are not reasons against a liver cleanse.
Reactions to the fasting cure
The absolutely overwhelming majority of participants are enthusiastic about liver fasting, and many are particularly surprised that juices are so filling, although we are talking about 1-2 litres a day.
Some participants have problems with so-called elimination crises due to high inflammation levels, constipation, sluggish peristalsis and generally weak digestive juices.
After the cure, a long-term change in diet should be the goal in order to integrate more living food into everyday life. The slow juicer mentioned above can make a valuable contribution to this, as can a high-performance blender such as the Vitamix to make green smoothies. Both juices and smoothies are a time-saving way to easily increase the vital substance content.
We would like to conclude with a few proverbs that illustrate the fundamental importance of the liver and gall bladder for our health:
- "What louse has run over your liver?"
- "The bile is up to here"
- "What's in your bones?"
