Raw mulberries

Mulberry trees originally come from China, where they were grown for breeding silkworms. The trees grow up to 15 metres tall and soon found new areas of cultivation, such as Turkey and Greece. The fruits are similar in appearance to blackberries and are just as juicy when raw. Red mulberries, for example, are particularly colourful. For this reason, the ancient Greeks used these fruits to colour wine.

Appreciated by Hildegard von Bingen, mulberries were already recommended by Hildegard von Bingen for liver complaints. Mulberries are full of vitamins, essential amino acids, minerals and trace elements...

+ Vitamins
such as vitamin C, E, folic acid, B vitamins, biotin and beta-carotene

+ Minerals
such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron

+ Secondary plant substances
such as aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glycine, essential amino acids, alanine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, leucine, histidine and more

+ enzymes

A sweet dream: our mulberries in raw food quality

Mulberries ripen on the tree over several weeks, which is why some of them can already dry naturally in the sun. Once all the berries have ripened, our mulberries are dried in the sun on clay roofs and sorted by hand. This ensures their raw food quality and a gentle harvest. Our mulberries have a soft consistency and are particularly tasty with a wonderful caramel flavour. They are ideal in any muesli or dried fruit mix, making them a tasty and healthy snack between meals.

What is tree ripening?
Before YOU enjoy them, our mulberries are allowed to enjoy pure sunshine for several weeks directly on the tree. A large proportion of the berries are still ripening on the tree and can dry in the natural sun. When they are fully ripe, they are harvested and, in order to ensure the consistent quality of all berries in raw food quality, they are gently dried on clay roofs
Why are there no fresh mulberries on the market?
Fresh mulberries are very sensitive, spoil easily and are therefore only imported in small quantities, if at all. Mulberries are very soft and juicy and therefore not very suitable for transport. Raw mulberries are therefore the best alternative and, thanks to the gentle drying process, they retain a maximum of their healthy ingredients.
What do mulberries taste like and how can I use them?
If you like it sweet, you will love our pure mulberries. The flavour of mulberries is often compared to sultanas. However, we believe that neither sultanas nor mulberries deserve this comparison. Mulberries have a pleasantly sweet and strong flavour ... accompanied by a delicate hint of caramel. The gentle drying process makes the flavour even more intense. Simply a delicious snack and an ideal ingredient for recipes that could do with a little sweetness! Combine mulberries with other dried fruits and nuts or prepare delicious energy balls. Why not try adding cocoa beans, almonds and mulberries to the list of ingredients? Simply sinfully delicious confectionery is quick and easy to prepare. Mulberries are of course also a delicious source of energy in green smoothies or muesli.
Do mulberries also grow in Germany?
Yes, the mulberry tree was already very popular in southern Germany in the 16th century and was planted particularly in wine-growing areas. In the 18th century, Frederick the Great had more mulberry trees planted as food for the silkworm in order to promote silk production in Germany. In many villages in Brandenburg, "remnants" of this costly and unsuccessful measure can still be found today.

Sehr angenehmer neuer Geschmack
