With these German-made sprout jar sets, you can watch, harvest and enjoy healthy sprouts every day of the year. The combination of glass and fine-meshed sieves with a stainless steel screw ring ensures effortless and hygienically clean cultivation of Keimlings, sprouts and micro-greens using only water, without any soil.
The best way to grow
You will receive 2 or 3 sprouting jars with a capacity of 1000 ml each and equipped with fine-meshed sieves and screw rings made of stainless steel. The drip tray in white ceramic is a key element of the Eschenfelder system to ensure that your sprout cultivation is a success. It is of a very high quality - high-fired and with a food-safe glaze. Together with the stainless steel draining rack, we can already speak of a guarantee of success! It is important when growing that the sieves are not completely covered by the seeds, i.e. that they are positioned at an angle so that the contents of the jars are well ventilated and excess water can drain away.
Many similar systems with vertical glass jars do not fulfil this important feature. Another important factor that prompted us to include the Eschenfelder products in our programme again is that everything is handmade in Germany . Incidentally, the ceramic tray supplied ensures that the system can be placed anywhere as the dripping water is collected.
Child's play rearing
In practice, it's more than simple: once the seeds have been filled into the jar, the fun can begin, because soaking and rearing take place in the same jar and nothing needs to be refilled or rebuilt - even the stainless steel lid is only opened again after filling with the harvest, which begins between 2 and 7 days later.
This is how the rearing process works in detail:
- Depending on the variety, soak the seeds in filtered water for a few hours (see the instructions for seeds for the exact duration).
- Then pour off the soaking water, rinse the jar thoroughly and place it in the rack with the opening facing downwards.
- Then rinse at least once a day until harvest.
For seeds such as alfalfa, where the focus is less on the seed and more on the small plant with leaves, the jar should be exposed to daylight before harvesting to encourage chlorophyll formation.
Incidentally, we opted for the 1000 ml version because small quantities can also be grown in the large jars, but not the other way round!
One more note on your choice of seeds to use: The jars are not suitable for mucilage-forming seeds such as Cress, rocket, mustard, chia and linseed!
