The delicious introduction to the world of edible algae
Wakame algae (Undaria Pinnatifida) is the perfect choice for anyone looking to try algae for the first time in their raw vegan diet or simply wanting a delicious-tasting and easy-to-process all-round algae. The protein-rich brown algae, which originally comes from Japan, has a spicy, aromatic flavour and is rich in essential minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium and iodine. It therefore makes a valuable contribution to a wholesome vegan diet. Algamar Algae are harvested by hand in the clean Atlantic waters off the coast of Galicia and gently dried to raw food quality.
Crunchy and flavourful delicacy
In its country of origin, Japan, wakame seaweed is the most popular edible seaweed together with the "sushi seaweed" nori. The leaves of wakame algae grow up to 1.5 metres in size and are characterised by their crunchy texture and full-bodied, spicy flavour. Whether cold or warm, in salads, soups or as a filling for pies, wakame seaweed invites raw food connoisseurs to try out new creative flavours. The dried seaweed leaves are soaked in water for 15 minutes and can then be easily processed. For example, chopped up in salads or as an ingredient for nutrient-rich smoothies. Wakame seaweed also adds a savoury touch to soups, raw food pizza and bread and many other creations.
Nutritional power from the sea
Wakame algae is ideal as part of a wholesome and balanced vegan diet. It is low in calories, rich in protein and fibre and contains valuable minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium. Potassium contributes to normal muscle and nervous system function, calcium and magnesium are important for normal energy metabolism and prevent tiredness. Iodine supports the thyroid gland in its normal function. Incidentally, thanks to its high sodium alginate content, wakame seaweed is also popular with detox fans.
Algamar Wakame seaweed comes from certified organic cultivation. They are harvested by hand on the cleanest part of the Spanish Atlantic coast and then gently dried at a maximum of 42 degrees Celsius to preserve all the valuable ingredients.
