Alkaline fasting according to P. Jentschura with Ute Jentschura
Ute Jentschura on alkaline fasting according to P. Jentschura. The family business has always pursued the goal of making a sustainable contribution to beauty, health and well-being.
If you pay attention to your acid-base balance, you can deal with stress more easily and fasting is a great way to do something for your body. Anyone who has never fasted before should definitely give fasting a try. Fasting is also a way of slowing down everyday life and should therefore be practised several times a year.
What makes us acidic?
Stress is one of the factors that can upset our acid-base balance, but the main cause of acidosis is the consumption of animal protein. Meat, especially pork, fish, dairy products and eggs are metabolised acidically due to their sulphuric acid-containing amino acids.
Industrially processed foods such as sweets, crisps, fast food and, of course, smoking should also not be underestimated. If these factors all come together and we consume soft drinks and alcohol instead of sufficient water, then we have a high acid load. We are also constantly exposed to environmental toxins, many take medication and suffer from a lack of exercise. However, excessive competitive sport can also be problematic. Add to this a lack of sleep, anxiety, anger and stress and the acid-base system, which is so important for our health, becomes unbalanced.
Can I test whether I am over-acidified?
Unfortunately, this is not so easy because there is no blood test. You can do the acid-base test according to Jörgensen, which measures the buffer capacity, but this test is not very well known and is therefore rarely carried out. It is also possible to have a dark-field microscopy carried out to see how fluid the erythrocytes (red blood cells) are. But unfortunately, all this only indicates the condition in the blood and not in the tissue. Acidosis can also be recognised by symptoms such as tiredness, cellulite, hair loss or skin problems, all of which can indicate an imbalance in the acid-base balance.
How does an alkalising cure according to Peter Jentschura work?
The brochure "Jentschura's alkaline cure" describes both the fasting cure according to Jentschura and the power cure, which is similar to an alkaline fast with lots of vegetables and salads and, above all, alkaline-forming foods to neutralise acids. There is also the so-called figure cure for the rapid reduction of body fat.
Jentschura fasting differs from Buchinger fasting in that there is less emphasis on abstinence and it is also aimed at people who have been eating a sub-optimal diet, i.e. a lot of convenience and fast food products. Care is taken to ensure that these participants also feel well during the fasting cure, and this works best if the acid-base balance is taken into account.
If you want to start a fasting cure, you should plan 2-3 pre-fasting days in advance, then there are 5-8 pure fasting days, the cure ends with breaking the fast, i.e. slowly getting used to the diet again in order to avoid the notorious yo-yo effect and to give the metabolism time for the changeover.
Chronically ill people should discuss any fasting with their doctor beforehand. Healthy people can easily carry out the Jentschura alkaline programme at home using the detailed instructions. However, there are also many arguments in favour of fasting in a fasting clinic, in a beautiful location and combined with walks as a break from everyday life.
Is it necessary to plan a bowel cleanse for the Jentschura alkaline programme?
Ute Jentschura generally recommends a bowel cleansing in the form of an enema at the start of the fasting cure. If this is not sufficient, the so-called "passage salt" can be used as an aid, which is more pleasant for the intestinal mucosa than the aggressive Glauber's salt. It is important that the bowel is empty, otherwise the body cannot switch to "internal nutrition". It may also be necessary to do 2-3 enemas in succession. If the bowels are not emptied thoroughly, there is a high probability that I will not feel well during the fast and that I will feel hungry. An enema device is not only a valuable tool for the fasting cure, but should be available in every household as a household remedy. If you want a more intensive cleansing, you can also take advantage of colon hydrotherapy. It makes sense, for example, to familiarise yourself with the enema before the cure so that you have practice during the actual fasting, you can also try alkaline treatments in advance or drink the tea, all of which reduces uncertainty, especially if you are doing an alkaline cure for the first time. It is also helpful to change your diet a little before the fast.
If you are more strongly affected by the alkaline balance, it is better not to start with pure fasting straight away, but first with the strength cure. During this time, the diet consists mainly of salads, vegetables and herbs, with no convenience products or highly processed foods, i.e. a purely plant-based, high-quality diet. This diet provides the minerals necessary for "alkalising". You should plan about a week for the strength cure before you can start the real fasting.
What fasting reactions can be observed in participants of the alkalising diet?
Typically headaches, tiredness or skin problems. However, the Jentschura alkalising cure is designed precisely to reduce these detoxification or elimination reactions to an absolute minimum. The 49-herb tea is used to dissolve waste products. The root power neutralises the acids released by fasting; it is a plant powder made from 100 ingredients. The alkaline baths are also important, if the acid-alkaline balance is not in equilibrium, the excretory organs are already overloaded, the alkaline baths therefore serve perfectly as an additional valve to excrete acids. All of this reduces the likelihood of not feeling well when fasting. The skin is a major excretory organ, the feet are even referred to as "auxiliary kidneys" in this sense. Foot baths or wearing alkaline socks are therefore a good idea. To increase the skin surface area, it is recommended to take a full alkaline bath 1-2 times a week. This is because the effective elimination of acids significantly reduces fasting crises. This is what distinguishes the Jentschura alkaline fasting programme from many other fasting cures.
Who should refrain from a Jentschura fasting cure?
Adolescents and pregnant women should not fast. Chronically ill people, e.g. Insulin-dependent diabetics should discuss it with their doctor in advance and ideally do the cure in a designated fasting clinic. Rheumatism responds very well to fasting, as does high blood pressure, weight loss and gut care. Intestinal health is fundamental for our immune system and important for good digestion.
How can I maintain the health benefits achieved through fasting?
After a fast, you will really enjoy your first meals, such as your first apple, especially when breaking the fast, you will eat more consciously and take more time for yourself. It is important to eat three meals a day instead of constantly snacking. You will tend to avoid certain ready-made products after fasting because your taste buds have become more sensitive. You should cook as much as possible yourself and, if possible, always include an alkaline fasting day in between, in which vegetables, salads, high-quality oils and herbs form the focus of the diet. Intermittent fasting is also generally recommended, e.g. eating for 8 hours and abstaining from food for 16 hours, ideally with a focus on alkalising foods. The 16-hour break between meals is a valuable relief for the gut.
What should definitely not be missing from Ute Jentschura's daily nutritional routine?
Breakfast with Morgenstund and Wurzelkraft, supplemented with fruit and a good oil, is the perfect start to the day and provides energy for the day's tasks. Due to the bitter substances contained in Wurzelkraft, some people need to familiarise themselves with it slowly. Bitter also means alkaline and bitter substances are clearly neglected in our modern diet anyway.
Peter Jentschura offers alkaline products Keimling.de for dissolving, neutralising and eliminating, then for the quick meal "Morgenstund" and "Tischlein deck dich", the alkaline body care such as the shower gel and the energy brush and as an aid for bowel cleansing the enema device.
You can also loosely incorporate components of the cure into your everyday life, such as the foot bath, alkaline stockings or liver compresses. Athletes regenerate faster after their activity if they incorporate alkaline treatments afterwards, which can also reduce muscle soreness.
"You are what you eat, our body functions best when it is supplied with high-quality alkaline foods."
