Raw Mango Kent Supreme

The mango is known to many as a green fruit with intense yellow flesh, which is often cut into cubes for serving. What is certainly unknown to many is its origin: the mango originally comes from India or the Philippines. But it also has religious significance: in Hinduism, for example, it has been considered a fruit of the gods since 1200 years before Christ and is still offered to the gods as a sacrifice today. One particular legend is that Buddha dropped a mango seed, from which a mighty mango tree grew. Mangoes are still the national fruit of India today.

This wonderful fruit is a true sun worshipper, and its tree can reach a proud 45 metres in height. The sun that the mango enjoys all year round is passed on to us in the form of wonderful flavour and many important ingredients. It has an intense flavour, is juicy and sweet and is the ideal ingredient for fresh fruit salads, desserts and, above all, smoothies.

Compost is made from the organic waste from the production of dried fruit and fruit pulp. In this way, the energy obtained from the soil can be recovered and thus contribute to the circular economy. Compost is used on the company's own fields and on farmers' fields.

What other types of mango are there and why is the Kent mango used?

There is no rule stating that the exact variety of mango must be labelled, usually a mango is just a mango. But there are subtle differences. The best-selling mango is "Tommy Atkins" and sells particularly well because of its visual appeal. Its colour spectrum ranges from greenish to red. The variety we use is the Kent mango, which is not popular in the conventional trade because of its green colour and sometimes flat shape. However, the "Kent" variety in particular has many advantages under the green skin: it is less fibrous and has a better flavour. Its flesh also has a nice consistency when dried and has an intensely bright yellow colour. Other well-known varieties are Haden, Palmer and Osteen.

Can I also use Kent dried mango in my smoothies?

You can and you must try it! ... because you shouldn't miss out on this fantastically fruity flavour in your smoothie. The Kent variety is lower in fibre than other mango varieties and is not a problem when preparing a smoothie, even in less powerful blenders. For a creamy and smooth smoothie, a powerful blender is of course recommended.

What else can I use the Mango Kent for?

Our Mango Kent is so delicious that you will probably want to enjoy it on its own. But you can also use the mango slices as a delicious ingredient for your vitalising dishes. For example, in dessert creams or as small pieces in breakfast muesli. Finely sliced mango strips are also particularly delicious as a fruity decoration on your ice cream - which you can make almost by yourself from Mango Kent slices using the Vitamix.

Where does the mango fruit actually come from?

The mango tree is originally native to Myanmar and Borneo, but is now also widespread in the USA, Central America, the Caribbean and many other countries around the world. The evergreen tree can grow up to 45 metres high. The fruit, mangoes, hang from the tree on long stalks and can weigh up to 2kg.

What ingredients does the fresh mango contain?

Ripe fruit from the mango tree contains vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B1 and folic acid. The minerals magnesium, calcium and potassium are also present.
