Raw food organic jackfruit

The evergreen jackfruit tree belongs to the mulberry family, although its fruits are anything but small mulberries in shape and size: The jackfruit, or nagka, can reach sizes of up to 1 metre in length with a diameter of 50 cm. They can weigh up to 10 to 15 kg. Because such immense fruits can hardly be carried by a branch, the jackfruit grows directly on the tree trunk. The jackfruit tree is native to tropical zones and India at altitudes of up to 1100 metres.

Astaple food in many areas of Asia
Jackfruit is said to have a diuretic, slightly laxative effect. As they contain a lot of water, are rich in minerals and fibre and, last but not least, taste good, jackfruit is a staple food in many Asian regions. The fruits contain many hexagonal individual fruits with seeds. The flesh and seeds of the jackfruit are edible.

What does jackfruit taste like?
When describing the taste quality, various flavour comparisons must be made: for example, a pleasantly sweet combination of banana and pineapple with a hint of lychee. In any case, jackfruit gives you a very unique flavour experience.
Why do the fruits grow on the tree trunk?
Anyone who has seen a jackfruit on a tree shortly before it is fully ripe will quickly realise that no branch can support this enormous size. The fruits can grow up to 1 metre in length and 50 cm in diameter and, at 10 to 15 kg, are no longer lightweights.
Is jackfruit also available to buy fresh?
You can buy jackfruit from us as dried strips. In the regions where jackfruit is grown in South East Asia, it is a valuable ingredient in traditional cuisine. To preserve the valuable ingredients, we recommend buying uncut fruit and, given the immense size of the fruit, dried jackfruit strips in raw food quality are an excellent alternative. Fresh fruit also does not keep for long. Incidentally, drying is also used in the countries where the fruit is grown to preserve the fruit and retain its nutrients; jackfruit crisps are a popular snack and widely available.
What is it about the smell of jackfruit?
When the fruit is fresh, and especially as it ripens, jackfruit gives off a characteristic odour that is not perceived as particularly pleasant by many noses. With our dried strips, we can put this prejudice to rest!
What can I use jackfruit for?
With the dried strips of our jackfruit you have a very healthy basis for a variety of recipes. Jackfruit is a practical snack for travelling or a tasty snack. In the raw food kitchen it is suitable for creams, smoothies or in desserts. In addition to its flavourful quality, jackfruit also contains many vital nutrients - which we provide you with thanks to optimal organic cultivation and gentle drying at temperatures below 40 °C.

Jackfruit getrocknet
