Water is life - but not all tap water is as pure as we would like it to be. Residues of medicines, chemicals from agriculture, heavy metals and bacterial contamination are constantly causing scare stories in the media. The bottled water industry has been profiting from this development for years, as more and more people no longer trust water from the tap. But is bottled water in plastic or glass bottles really the way to a healthy, holistic lifestyle? Doesn't it make sense to purify and revitalise the water where it is directly needed, in the kitchen at home?

That's why we think investing in a water filter system really makes sense and is sustainable. Instead of lugging around boxes or becoming a filter yourself without a water filter. But which filter system is right for you? We introduce you to the most important filter methods - including our selected products in the Keimling Naturkost shop and our favourite system, which we drink with enthusiasm here at the company

Why a water filter system for the home?

Although our tap water is subject to strict controls, there are many possible sources of contamination after treatment at the waterworks: the kilometres of pipelines, for example, are one such place of further contamination, but the high pressure in the pipe network does not improve the taste of the water either. Unfortunately, the whole truth is that the limits for pollutants are set too high and industrial inputs and agricultural residues cannot be completely removed at the waterworks. A water filter system for the home helps to effectively remove these substances and ensures fresh, pure and lively drinking pleasure - without plastic bottles or heavy lugging. It is also available in sufficient quantities to be used for food and drink preparation, watering flowers or cleaning.

Which filter system is right for you?

1. maunawai gravity filter with PI technology - naturally filtered, living water

For larger households and correspondingly larger quantities, we recommend the Maunawai PI Prime K8 or K2floor-standing filter (for soft water). The spring works on the same principle as the Kini jug, but has longer filter change intervals thanks to an upstream ceramic fine filter and is therefore even cheaper to maintain than the small Kini jug! By the way, the water from the Maunawai filters is by far the most popular at our headquarters in Buxtehude!

2. activated carbonblockfilter- the simple and effective solution

Activated carbon block filters are also tried and tested systems for removing unwanted substances from drinking water without filtering out valuable minerals. Unlike gravity filters, they need to be connected to the mains supply, either as a countertop version installed directly on the aerator or as an under-sink unit, concealed under the sink.

3. reverse osmosis - ultra-pure water for the discerning

Reverse osmosis technology offers particularly thorough filtration: the smallest pollutants, dissolved salts, heavy metals, microplastics and minerals are removed. This is the biggest difference to previous filter systems in that minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium are also removed from the water. The result: almost pure H₂O. This water is often referred to as dead water, but we think the term empty water is more appropriate. With our recommendation, the aqua living systems, the water is renaturalised and revitalised through several applications in the devices, so there is no question of death.

4. vitalisation - revitalise water

In addition to chemical purification, the physical quality of the water also plays an important role. It is well known that water has a memory, which should also be freed from harmful information. Through special vortex techniques or contact with energy-rich quartz crystals, the water is restored to its natural structure - similar to a mountain stream. The result: a softer flavour and improved cell availability.

With Maunawai and aqua living, this restructuring is already integrated into the devices or filter cartridges. A vitaliser or swirler can be used with the active carbon block filters to achieve a physical change and improve the taste, which is usually described as pleasantly soft and fresh.
